I want to thank Tribune staff reporter Jeff Long for his article exposing the mistreatment of elephants at a McHenry County training farm owned by John Cuneo. This owner has finally agreed to donate the 12 elephants to an Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, Tenn., after a two-year debate.
Thank goodness the United States Department of Agriculture has interceded on the wild creatures’ behalf. It is yet another example of wild animals being exploited for human entertainment.
