Northwest Airlines plans to eliminate free meals on all domestic flights for coach passengers. The airline will offer travelers a $3 snack box or a $5 sandwich. The snack boxes, for example, will include nonperishable items such as potato chips, cookies, crackers, cheese spread and raisins. The cost-saving move will be phased in over several months.
