There’s more from Lindsay Lohan’s interview in the April issue of W magazine on newsstands Friday.
The “Mean Girls” star, who used the interview to declare that her estranged father, Michael Lohan, “didn’t do anything for my career,” also responded to his desire to bring the family together and film a reality TV show that followed them through his divorce with Lindsay’s mother, Dina.
“As sick as it sounds, a reality show might help, actually,” Lindsay Lohan said. “At least then people could get the truth.”
She also weighed in on two much-discussed issues in the tabloids–her party-girl reputation and her chest.
Of her “dancing-on-tables” reputation, Lohan said: “I go to clubs and everything, and if I hang out with Paris Hilton, I don’t think that’s a bad thing. She’s a nice girl.”
Of her assets, she said: “I’m young, and I only got my boobs like a year and a half ago, so of course they’re going to look good. I love ’em.”
Trimming the beef
In his first public appearance since a public war of words with The Game and a shooting outside New York hip-hop station Hot 97, 50 Cent s says he’s putting the beef behind him.
He appeared on BET’s “106 & Park” on Thursday with G-Unit’s Olivia to promote his new album “The Massacre,” mtv.com reports. He said his beef with Jadakiss, Fat Joe and Nas–the rappers he calls out on the dis track “Piggy Bank”–is getting blown out of proportion.
“A lot of things you hear out there is being said for shock value and not really as serious as people make it out to be,” he said. “The media gets it, and they try to do what they can do with it to make money off of it and make it look as bad as possible. But hip-hop has always been competitive, and they should always look forward to us getting back and forth with words.”
Meanwhile, Fat Joe wasn’t exactly thrilled to be named on “Piggy Bank.” “My job is to make hot records so people can be entertained,” he said Wednesday, according to mtv.com. “My job is not to be in the paper affiliated with all this ruckus.
“Basically the ‘Piggy Bank’ is just to create hype, to create sales for [50’s] career, and I’m not with that. Yeah, this is a stunt, man.”
But, like it or not, the hype is working. This week, Fitty became the first artist to be featured on three singles in the top five on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart, which debuted in 1991: “Candy Shop” (No. 1), The Game’s “How We Do” (No. 4) and “Disco Inferno” (No. 5).
Ellen’s health scare
Daytime star Ellen DeGeneres is heading into the operating room.
The talk show host will undergo surgery later this week to remove polyps from her cervix, her rep confirmed to the New York Post.
The Post quotes a friend of DeGeneres’ as saying the comedian will be “out of commission for a few days” but “is fine.” The friend added that DeGeneres might call attention to the condition in upcoming shows to raise awareness among women.
WHOA, NELLY: Ministers from 20 local churches have joined together to protest Nelly’s upcoming performance at Arkansas State University.
“When we started seeing some of the vile and filthy lyrics … we thought we should get involved,” said Rev. Adrian Rodgers of the Fullness of Joy Church.
Rodgers and the other pastors urged area residents not to buy tickets to the March 12 concert because they are worried that bringing such acts to Jonesboro would lead to problems.
Tim Dean, director of ASU’s Convocation Center, where the concert is to be held, said tickets have been selling fast. “It would appear that with ticket sales over 5,000, many others have expressed their right and find Nelly’s music entertaining and worth spending their time and money on,” Dean said.
A LITTLE TOO “PASSION”-ATE? Mel Gibson, testifying against a fan of “The Passion of the Christ” accused of stalking him, told jurors Thursday that he feared for his family’s safety because the man “doesn’t appear to know his boundaries.”
Zack Sinclair, who is accused of repeatedly going to the gate of Gibson’s Malibu, Calif., estate and of violating a court order to stay away, is acting as his own attorney in the case but declined to cross-examine the “Passion” director.
The star testified that in September, Sinclair showed up at a chapel where Gibson attends services. Gibson said he got up at one point during the service, but when he returned, Sinclair was in his seat. Sinclair moved within a few inches of the actor’s face and said, “Hi, I’m here to pray with you,” Gibson said.
