Donyell Marshall and the Toronto Raptors went out of their way — way out — to beat the Philadelphia 76ers.

Marshall tied the NBA record with 12 three-pointers and the Raptors finished with a league-record 21 in their 128-110 victory over the 76ers on Sunday night.

Marshall was 12-for-19 from three-point range and finished with a career-high 38 points to help the Raptors match the franchise record for points.

The Raptors, 21-for-34 from three-point range, broke the previous NBA record of 19 three-pointers set by Atlanta in a victory in Dallas on Dec. 17, 1996.

“The basket just looked humongous out there today,” Marshall said. “My teammates kept telling me to shoot it. They kept saying no matter what play we run we’re going to look for you in the corner.”

The Lakers’ Kobe Bryant hit 12 three-pointers against Seattle on Jan. 7, 2003.

. . . and offensive futility

In the Pistons’ 64-62 victory over the Jazz, the teams’ 126 total points rank as the sixth-lowest scoring game in NBA history. The league low for combined scoring is 119 points by Boston (62) and Milwaukee (57), at Providence, R.I., on Feb. 27, 1955.

“That’s as ugly as it can get,” said Detroit’s Chauncey Billups, who scored just one point in the second half.

After the game, Pistons coach Larry Brown announced he will have surgery on Monday and miss an undetermined amount of time.

Brown’s procedure is related to the hip surgery that caused him to miss six games in November.
