Forget what you hear about 50 Cent’s hard image and his bullet-riddled past. In his hometown of Farmington, Conn., he’s the town sweetheart.
“We want to have prom at his house,” Liza Dionne, an 18-year-old student at Farmington High School, told The Associated Press. “We left a letter in his mailbox, but haven’t heard back yet.”
Though he can’t always be found in his 18-bedroom palace, which he bought for $4.1 million in 2003, Fitty lives like any other suburbanite when he’s home. Well, like any other incredibly wealthy suburbanite, anyway.
His chef is a regular at the fancy Santilli’s Epicure Market, where she comes in every Friday to pick up filet mignon, fresh tuna and swordfish, and “lots and lots” of spring water, owner Remo Santilli says.
He has even opened the home (and its wall-to-wall Gucci leather room and in-house casino) to his neighbors.
Robin Condon, 33, went to a recent party with friends who live near the rapper’s crib and rubbed elbows with the likes of Busta Rhymes, Foxy Brown and Tyson Beckford.
Things got a little embarrassing when Condon saw her friend’s father picking up his pant leg to show off tall, white socks. “I couldn’t believe it. I was like, ‘You are standing next to Slick Rick, for God’s sake. Stop it!’ “
