Final Four-titude
We know you’re going to be parked in front of the tube for the Illini game on Saturday night versus Louisville (5:07 p.m. tip-off). So why not head over to frenzied-fan central Joe’s (940 W. Weed St.)? You can also catch a repeat of last weekend’s thriller over Arizona. Then stick around for band 7th Heaven at 10 p.m. ($8 cover). Another game-watching option: Hit Schoolyard Tavern (3258 N. Southport Ave.) for $3 drafts.
Fool us once
Cabaret artists Amy Armstrong and Freddy Allen spoof April Fool’s Day on Friday with jokes, original songs and audience pranks at Joey’s Brickhouse. But there’s no foolin’ about the food: Swiss, white cheddar and asiago “grilled cheese” with Maine lobster on brioche ($15); house-made doughnuts with strawberry and creme anglaise dipping sauces ($6); “make your-own-smores” over a tabletop flame ($7-$12). 5 p.m.-2 a.m.; show starts at 9:30. No cover. 1258 W. Belmont Ave. 773-296-1300.
Fool us twice
So you got punked today, huh? Don’t feel bad. It happens to the best of us. Still need a self-esteem boost? Head to this party from 10 to 11 p.m. Friday at Le Passage, where you’ll sip free Ketel One cocktails and munch appetizers. The bar’s also mixing up “Joke’s on You” libations, such as the Fooltini and Pranktail ($6 each). 9 p.m.-4 a.m. $10-$20. RSVP for reduced admission before midnight: rsvp@hypewisechicago.com 937 N. Rush St. 312-255-0022.
Flip-flop forward
As we set our clocks ahead this weekend, we’ll be thinking only one thing: It’s an hour closer to summer sandal season! (Hey, it’s been a long winter.) But are our tootsies ready for the spotlight? Old Navy is holding an open casting call for men, women and teen foot models. All contestants will have a “footagraph” taken and be entered in the Old Navy Top Flip-Flop Model Contest, and winners will be featured in a circular. Noon-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Free. 35 N. State St. 312-551-0522.
Woo-who?
You’ve seen him in the stands, but how much do you really know about Ronnie “Woo Woo” Wicker? Paul Hoffman’s documentary, “Woo Life,” takes a look at the Cubs’ superfan’s turbulent life. There’s also a lecture by the Negro League’s John “Buck” O’Neil and an appetizer reception. 7:30 p.m. Friday. $40. Proceeds benefit the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless. Chicago Historical Society, 1601 N. Clark St. 773-687-0661.
Fangs a lot
Yeah, we admit it: We’re classic creep show connoisseurs. That’s why you’ll see us wide-eyed at the Fifth Annual Chicago Horror Film Festival, featuring shorts and feature-length flicks, including “Zombie Killers” and “Night Fangs.” 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday. $6-$8 per film; $25 all-access pass. Three Penny Cinema, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave. 773-525-3449.
What’s up, doc?
All right, maybe you’re into more serious cinema. See 100 screenings at the Chicago International Documentary Film Festival, including 15 world premieres. There also are panel sessions and meet-and-greets with directors. Starts Friday; continues through April 10 at various locations. $6.50-$8.50 per film; $20-$50 for special events. Find more details on metromix.com or call 773-486-9612.
Not Monty python
They’re not exactly cuddly, but scaly creatures do have a certain charm. But don’t take our word for it: See for yourself at ReptileFest, where you can gawk at dozens of live specimens, including an 8-foot-long alligator. 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. $6-$8. UIC Physical Education Building, 901 W. Roosevelt Rd. 773-281-1800.
Legend in the making
So if three straight days of John Legend performances, opening for Alicia Keys at the Chicago Theatre, weren’t enough, catch his after-party appearance at Funky Buddha Lounge where he sign CDs and posters. (Last time he was there he did a private solo performance for the ladies). Who knows? Maybe Ms. Keys will show up too. 9 p.m.-2 a.m. Sunday. 728 W. Grand Ave. 312-666-1695.
