When Penelope Cruz was caught canoodling Monday with the camel she brought to the premiere of her new film “Sahara,” her boyfriend and co-star Matthew McConaughey tried to pick a fight with the beast.
Well, not really. But only because McConaughey knew who would win that fight. “I can’t really compete,” he told “Entertainment Tonight.”
“His name is Frido,” Cruz said in Hollywood on Monday, “he’s so cute, and he doesn’t smell.” Word is that during filming in Morocco, Cruz took to the camel so well that she asked for extra time to ride it.
Cruz and McConaughey walked the red carpet separately Monday, continuing to be coy about their off-camera relationship. “Sahara” opens Friday.
