Why does the president feel that it is necessary to put on a cross-country magic show in order to promote his Social Security privatization scheme? Shouldn’t it be able to stand on its own merits?
Unless, of course, the merits of diverting Social Security taxes into private accounts are self-serving for his wealthy financial backers and of dubious value for the workers of this country.
There are a great many people who get up early to go to work day after day, year after year, and they are looking forward to the security that Social Security provides. Let the Grand Illusionist know that the trick is to strengthen Social Security, not weaken it with a lot of hocus pocus about private accounts.
