It amazes me whenever someone brings up the mascots of our various sports teams and demands their removal out of respect for some group or another.
If the anti-Chief Illiniwek crowd gets its wish, I suggest the following teams be made to change their names out of political correctness: Patriots, Saints, Steelers, Vikings, Packers, Cowboys, Texans, Buccaneers, Hoosiers, Yankees, Indians, Braves, Redskins and, last but not least, the Fighting Irish. What a horrible thing to associate all Irish with fighting.
While we’re at it, maybe PETA will protest the use of animal names as well!
