Looks like the Federline family is about to get bigger.
Britney Spears has revealed what might be Hollywood’s worst-kept secret: She’s pregnant.
“The time has finally come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together,” Spears told fans in a posting on her Web site, www.britneyspears.com. “There are reports that I was in the hospital this weekend, and Kevin and I just want everyone to know that all is well. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.”
A spokeswoman for Spears confirmed to RedEye on Tuesday that the information on her Web site is accurate.
Spears and Kevin Federline were married in September. Federline, 27, has two children with his ex-girlfriend, actress Shar Jackson.
Magazines and tabloids have speculated for weeks that the 23-year-old pop star was pregnant, noting her expanding waistline. She has previously expressed a desire to start a family.
Yet, just two weeks ago on her Web site, Spears lashed out against what she called “false tabloids” for alleging that she was pregnant and that her marriage was in trouble.
“Do you, Us Weekly, In Touch, Star and other desperate magazines want employees who are honest, or those who are liars?” Britney wrote. “It seems to me that you’d prefer the latter.”
It’s too soon to tell whether this latest Brit bit will lead to fan fervor or publicity overload.

Just last week, Brit and Kev announced that they’ll open up their lives to millions via their own reality TV show on UPN. “I am so excited about the series. From the day that Kevin and I met, there have been constant rumors and inaccurate speculation about our lives together,” Britney said.
Featuring what UPN bills as “exclusive, never-before-seen private home videos” of their “personal love story,” the six-episode series is scheduled to premiere later this year and will document their courtship, engagement and wedding. It picks up shortly after the pair met in Los Angeles and headed to Europe on tour, where Kevin performed as a backup dancer for Britney.
The next chapter is parenthood, and like everything else in Britney’s life since she hit it big, it will take place under the glare of an unrelenting and often unforgiving spotlight.
