Bernard Saltz, 84, of Clearwater Beach, FL, died March 25, 2005. He was born in Estonia, came to the United States in 1922 and resided in Chicago, Wilmette and River Forest until retiring to Florida in 1979. He ran apparel and other manufacturing companies in Chicago. He was an inventor and patented several products including the Dexter handheld sewing machine. He was an Army Air Forces Veteran of World War II. He flew 35 missions as a B-17 tail gunner with the 8th Air Force, 92nd Bomb Group. Survivors include his wife, Betty Mina of Clearwater Beach; three sons, Jerry, Robert, and Donald; two brothers, Theodore and William; and four grandchildren.
