Ethel Schlan, nee Lazar, 89, of Boca Raton, FL, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away on Friday, April 8. Beloved wife of Julius Schlan; loving mother of Harriet Winograd and Lester (Rhea) Schlan; proud grandmother of Joanna and Eliza Winograd and Max and Benjamin Schlan; she also leaves her devoted brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Ro Schlan. Ethel and Julie’s marriage was an extraordinary love affair for over 63 years. Ethel was a talented painter and singer and made the best cheese blintzes in town. Funeral services were held Monday, April 11, FL. In honor of Ethel’s memory, donations may be sent to Hospice by the Sea, 1531 W. Palmetto Park Rd., Boca Raton.
