A 33-year-old man was rescued Tuesday by police officers who interrupted an attempted robbery at the 3000 block of West Belmont Avenue, a report said.

Police saw two offenders approach and push the victim, who was waiting for a bus at

5 a.m. The first offender said, “Give me your money,” then grabbed the victim and threw him into the back of a parked van.

The victim got out of the van and ran into the street, where he was almost hit by a bus.

The police officers then identified themselves and chased after the offenders, who fled from the scene. One offender escaped, but the other was arrested after he punched the officer who apprehended him.

EMERGENCY EXIT: A 49-year-old man fled from two offenders who attempted to steal his duffel bag and threatened him with a knife while he was waiting for a bus, a report said.

At 4:30 a.m. April 8, the victim was standing on the 3000 block of North Milwaukee Avenue when the offenders approached him.

The first offender showed the victim a small pocketknife and demanded that he hand over the bag. The second offender grabbed the bag and then yelled, “Cut him.”

The victim grabbed his bag back and then ran away.

BIKENAPPED: A 32-year-old man lost his mountain bike Sunday, when he noticed that his basement had been invaded, a report said.

The victim was taking his dog outside on the 3000 block of North Albany Avenue when he noticed that his basement door was open. Several items in the basement were rearranged, but the bike was the only property reported missing.

CLEANED OUT: A 23-year-old woman lost more than $9,000 worth of property and cash Tuesday when her home on the 4000 block of North Karlov Avenue was burglarized, a report said.

Among the items stolen were $1,500 cash, jewelry, clothes, three computers, two Sony PlayStations, a Panasonic home theater system, about 50 DVDs, two Sony cameras, credit cards, checkbooks and a Social Security card.

The home was invaded through the rear door, the report said.

JEWELRY GONE: A 69-year-old woman lost several thousand dollars worth of property on April 7, when her home was invaded, a report said.

Among the items stolen from the home, which was on the 5000 block of North Kimball Avenue, were $50 in loose change and a jewelry box that held a platinum necklace and a diamond necklace.

Police said the intruder entered through a window.

IDENTITY CRISIS: A 36-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman lost personal documents and other property when intruders broke into and ransacked their home on the 5000 block of North Kimball Avenue, a report said.

A box that contained the couple’s credit cards, Social Security cards and birth certificates was stolen April 9. Also taken were a computer monitor and printer, as well as an Xbox video game console and a $100 foreign currency collection.

Police said the intruder entered through the front door by removing the doorknob.
