I guess all good things must come to an end. I loved watching the Cubs on television as far back as I can remember. Not just because I’ve been a Cubs fan all these years, but because Wrigley Field was the classiest place to watch baseball, on TV or at the park.

Now, however, I’m finished watching the games on television. I never watched any other major-league games on television because of all those gaudy, tacky, very distracting electronic billboards behind home plate.

I was always proud and expressed my gratitude to many people that Ol’ Wrigley Field was above that kind of trashy advertising. I always appreciated the view of the bricks, part of the “bricks and ivy” legacy of Wrigley, as the backdrop when watching the batter. There has always been (in my opinion) more than enough time between innings for commercials.

I am very disappointed with whoever ruined a great thing. Money shouldn’t be absolutely everything, and Wrigley Field should be setting an example that the game comes first.
