EVENT OF THE WEEK
U. of C. conference features Welch
Jack Welch, retired chairman and chief executive of GE, will be the keynote speaker at the 53rd annual management conference of the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, which more than 1,000 business executives are expected to attend.
The event will be held from noon to 5:15 p.m. Friday at the Fairmont Hotel Chicago, 200 N. Columbus Drive, and at the Gleacher Center, 450 N. Cityfront Plaza Drive.
Welch, who will speak from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m., is head of Jack Welch LLC, where he advises a small group of Fortune 500 CEOs. He will discuss his new book “Winning” and sign copies following the keynote.
In addition to Welch, there will be 16 panel discussions with topics ranging from employee retention to foreign policy challenges in the second Bush term, to a midyear economic outlook, and a look at the future of consumer-driven health care.
The cost to attend is $75 for lunch and the keynote address only; $105 for the afternoon sessions only, or $135 for the entire conference.
