Harold “Hal” Kerman, 93 years old, urban visionary and builder responsible for initiating Old Town Renaissance beginning in 1946 and the urban revitalization of Hyde Park/University of Chicago and Lakeview communities. WW II veteran. Beloved husband of Belle, nee Kaplan, of 58 years; devoted father of Dr. Ariel Kerman and Shani (Jeffery) Abrams; grandfather of Rebecca; son of the late Beatrice and Simon; brother of the late Lois (Martin) Smith, the late Jerry (Helen) Kerman and the late Shepard Kerman killed in WW II. Uncle and friend of many. Trustee of Old Town Chamber. Graveside service Tuesday, April 26, 2 p.m. at Westlawn Cemetery (Petunia), 7801 W. Montrose.
