Derrick Z. Jackson reaches a new low when he connects abortion clinic and Atlanta Olympics bomber Eric Rudolph to the hundreds of millions of ordinary Americans who wish to see illegal immigration curtailed.

He writes, “Rudolph may be put away for all time because he used deadly violence. But there are still many people doing his bidding” (e.g. the Minutemen of Arizona who are working with immigration officials to seal a stretch of the Arizona-Mexico border).

According to Jackson, something about illegal immigrants holding down the cost of fruit and paying Social Security taxes but not receiving benefits makes terrorists out of the citizens who have volunteered to help immigration officers uphold our laws. In the process, Jackson strips the word “terrorist” of its meaning, furthering a dangerous trend among the media and political elite. Meanwhile it is important that the rest of us recall what a terrorist is, notwithstanding Jackson’s desire to syndicate his columns.
