Early April
Fans start lining up outside of Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood in anticipation of the third prequel. The only problem: The film will not be shown there. It is scheduled to play at the nearby ArcLight Theater, executives from ArcLight and 20th Century Fox told Daily Variety.
April 2
Toys “R” Us stores open at 12:01 a.m., giving fans the first chance to purchase new “Episode III” toys. Products include games, action figures and the Darth Vader Voice Changer.
April 15
AMC Theaters release advance tickets to “Episode III.” They go on sale at noon in Chicago and cities across the country.
April 23
An estimated 30,000 fans attended Celebration III, the four-day convention dedicated to “Star Wars” in Indianapolis. George Lucas announces plans to bring “Star Wars” to TV with a 3-D, animated version of the “Clone Wars” that now airs on Cartoon Network and a live-action series featuring “Star Wars” characters.
Tuesday
The original motion picture soundtrack by composer John Williams is scheduled to be released. It features 21 tracks, including “Anakin vs. Obi-Wan” and “Birth of the Twins.”
May 12
George Lucas is scheduled to guest star as himself on “The O.C.” Seth (Adam Brody) must choose between going to the prom with Summer (Rachel Bilson) or having dinner with Lucas, reports the official “Star Wars” Web site, starwars.com.
May 15
“Episode III” to be shown out of competition at the Cannes International Film Festival, four days before its U.S. release.
May 16
“Star Wars” die-hards will be able to watch a 14-hour movie marathon (plus meal breaks) of the science-fiction saga in London. All six “Star Wars” films, including “Episode III,” are scheduled to be shown at Leicester Square beginning at 7 a.m. According to British media reports, tickets sold out in five minutes.
May 19
“Star Wars: Episode III–Revenge of the Sith” hits theaters.
