– Manager Dusty Baker said pitching coach Larry Rothschild will study film of Kerry Wood’s mechanics to prevent Wood from incurring further arm injuries. “This is one of the things [Rothschild] is going to evaluate and watch some film and see exactly why he keeps going on the DL,” Baker said.
– Todd Wellemeyer was called up from Triple-A Iowa to take Wood’s roster spot.
– Ryan Dempster, who was skipped over in Tuesday night’s start while the Cubs contemplated moving him into the closer’s role, now will start Wednesday’s game in Milwaukee against Victor Santos.
