The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating more than 1.2 million GM pickups and sport-utility vehicles in 21 states, including Illinois. NHTSA reports stopping distances may increase when the brakes are used at speeds less than 10 m.p.h. because of corrosion build-up. The vehicles are the GMC Sierra, Tahoe, Yukon Denali, Yukon XL and Yukon XL Denali; Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado and Suburban; and Cadillac Escalade and EXT.
