Barbara Nelle “Bobbie” Root, age 66, of Crete, IL, passed Wednesday, May 11, at her home. Barbara “Bobbie” was born April 21, 1939 in Chicago. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and wife. As an army wife, she was president of several officer’s clubs, was a world traveler and excellent homemaker. Bobbie devoted much of her time to helping children around the world, including coaching, swimming, and bowling. She was also a volunteer for the March of Dimes, was a former runway model working for the Patricia Vance Modeling Agency Inc. She is survived by her husband David; two sons, Gary (Terri) and Aaron (Holly) both of Winfield, IN; two grandchildren, Jarred and Brandon; a sister, Pam of Murray, KY and a brother, Jack of Tennessee. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. with Funeral Services 10:30 a.m. also at the Crete Funeral Home, 1182 Main Str., Crete, IL 60417.
