Like David McGrath, I am also Catholic. Unlike him, I do not believe that people feel bullied by the 198-foot cross on Interstate Highways 57 and 70. When I see the cross, Jesus’ words come to mind, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” The cross is not meant to intimidate people but to challenge them to love one another.
