Parker returns to his acid-tongued pub-rock style on the too-modestly titled “Songs of No Consequence.” He may play the role of the aging rocker made irrelevant by fickle trends, but that doesn’t keep him from unloading on numerous targets–the media, the music business, personal affairs gone sideways–with doubled-barreled sarcasm. “Did Everybody Just Get Old?” asks the album’s closing track. Perhaps, but Parker sees no value in aging gracefully or quietly fading.
