If the opener is any indication, expect a Calder Cup championship series in which the goalies from Finland–the Phantoms’ Antero Niittymaki and the Wolves’ Kari Lehtonen–are going to play the dominant roles.
The Wolves’ offense stayed in the Allstate Arena closet and Philadelphia gained the upper hand in the series by scoring a 1-0 victory Thursday, thanks to a power-play goal by Mike Richards in the second period. The teams will be back in Allstate Arena for Game 2 on Saturday night.
