Donald E. Stewart, 77, reference book editor died at home in Evanston on June 8, 2005. Born in Chicago Aug. 26, 1927. Husband of Barbara, nee Fletcher, Stewart; father of Judith (Tom) Pappenhagen and Jeanne (Paul) Gallagher. Also survived by four grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was managing editor of Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1965-73 and American Library Association’s Executive Director for Publishing 1974-82. For the past ten years, leader of the local chapter of Us Too International (prostate cancer support group).
