Kwame Brown, the first high school player to go first in the NBA draft, and Steve Blake, a two-year veteran, received qualifying offers from Washington.
The offers make Brown, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 draft who never has played up to his potential, and Blake, a second-round pick in 2003 from Maryland, restricted free agents so that the Wizards have the right to match any offers another team makes.
– The Suns traded second-round draft pick Marcin Gortat, a 6-foot-11-inch forward-center from Poland, to the Magic for future considerations.
