I agree with Mike Ditka that the will of the few should not be imposed on the will of the many, especially when it comes to smoking in bars and restaurants (“Ditka tackles smoking ban; City proposal’s foes bring in Da Coach,” Metro, July 13). The problem is, it already is. The less than 25 percent minority of smokers keeps non-smokers out. Sure there would be a brief slump in business if a non-smoking ordinance was passed, as it would take time for most non-smokers to believe that it is safe to enter bars again. But once they realized that they could walk into a bar and have a drink without having to detoxify their clothes when they got home, business would be booming like never before.
