I have the impression that the people who write that we must win the war against terrorism consider this a conventional military struggle. They seem to find comfort in “might makes right” and “the end justifies the means.” Until all Americans are willing to think long and honestly about the causes and appeal of terrorism, we will continue to fail in our use of 20th Century attitudes and solutions to fit an evolving problem of the 21st Century.
