The “Chappelle’s Show” saga continues, with no beginning in sight.
Season 3 of the hit Comedy Central show remains on hold and without a timetable to start, The Hollywood Reporter says.
“The ball’s in Dave’s court,” network president Doug Herzog said after Comedy Central’s presentation at the Television Critics Association July press tour.
Herzog, according to the Reporter, said he spoke to Chappelle a week ago in a hotel lobby and said the comedian told him he needed more time before resuming production.
“Chappelle’s Show” originally was scheduled to go back on air in May, but Chappelle took off to South Africa without notice, halting the third season indefinitely. The network has said it still expects a third and fourth season from Chappelle, who signed a two-year, $50 million contract after Season 2.
“If you see him, tell him to phone home,” Herzog joked.
