Gertrude J. Spoolstra, age 85, formerly from Roseland, Thornton and South Holland, passed away Monday, July 18. She was the wife of the late Julius “Red” Spoolstra; mother of Marlene (Lane) Kuipers, Shirlee (Alen) Larson, James (Theresa) Spoolstra; grandmother of Amy (Scott) Fairbanks, Linda (Gerry) Santora and Scott (Diane) Larson, Rachel (Kevin) Heassler and Christy (Mark) Daigle, Kimberly Spoolstra, Aaron (Jayne) Spoolstra, Trenton (Christina); great-grandmother of 11. She was born March 1, 1920 to Arendt and Jennie, nee Bogard, Beenes; loving sister to Johanna (Nick) Kortenhoven and Harold (Adeline) and Elizabeth “Betty” Beenes. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2005 at 11 a.m. from the Schroeder Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery.
