– Evans Mirageas, a former senior vice president of artists and repertoire for the Decca Record Company, has been named artistic director of the Cincinnati Opera. Mirageas, who once worked as a producer for Chicago’s WFMT-98.7 FM, will succeed Nicholas Muni.

– A federal jury in New York decided Thursday that Ashanti owes $630,000 to her first producer for breach of contract. The singer was not in court when the jury returned its verdict in favor of Genard Parker, who worked with Ashanti in 1996 and 1997.

– On the heels of its breakout success this summer, “Dancing with the Stars” will return to ABC midseason.

– Luke Perry of “Beverly Hills 90210” is returning to series television midseason in NBC’s “Windfall,” about 20 friends who share in a multimillion-dollar lottery jackpot and must deal with instant wealth.
