Mike Orseno finally met the woman of his dreams. A former Illini gymnast, Kari Karubas, 29, can keep up with his Iron Man triathlon training, and she loves grilling and the White Sox. “My friends are like, `Where did you find her?'” said Orseno, 32, a health-care consultant in the South Loop.

So what did Orseno do to meet her? Not a thing. One of his female friends posted his picture and a brief bio on GreatBoyfriends.com. The site is filled with eligible men who are pegged as the good ones by the women in their lives–ex’s, sisters or friends. Searching single ladies can contact the guy and pursue a relationship. Guys don’t have to do a thing.

Orseno was posted on the site by a female friend. He didn’t know of her plans and wondered why he kept receiving tons of e-mails. “I thought my friend was playing a joke on me and put me on a gay Web site. You know, Great Boyfriends?” he said.

Karubas was “intrigued” by his profile and sent him a message with her picture. The two e-mailed for months before meeting. Now they’re planning a June 2006 wedding.

“If you know what kind of person you are, it will work for you,” she said. “You can go through the profiles and sort.”

Names and e-mail addresses aren’t posted. There’s no cost to search, but correspondence costs $20/month for both guys and girls. The site also lists “Great Girlfriends” for searching guys.
