Doctors serve their patients’ interests, lawyers their clients’ and priests their parishioners’.

Journalists serve their own selfish interests or their papers’.

They write about a world as they alone see it. They pick and choose those to whom they offer confidentiality and those they do not.

Like propagandists, they give life to that which serves their needs and kill that which does not.

They attack those they oppose and embellish those they love.

In short, they are no different than politicians, ideologues or average citizens, all of whom claim to be serving the public interest.

Journalists deserve no more.

If I can go to jail for not revealing a source, then so should they.
