– The pregnancy of “Alias” star Jennifer Garner will be written into the fifth season of the show. Garner’s character, Sydney Bristow, will be mentoring a young, female agent, and E! Online reports the new spy will be played by “The Inside’s” Rachel Nichols.

– The changes recently announced at TV Guide are all to the good, I say. I only ever read the front-of-the-book features anyway, not the listings (which are mostly being chucked), and if the mag’s new larger format means more space for critic Matt Roush and scoopmeister Michael Ausiello to fill with their must-read work, then I’m happy.

– U2 has a cameo on Sunday’s episode of HBO’s swell “Entourage.”

– NBC announced a radical new strategy during the annual summer press tour for critics: The network would “put a show in its time period, leave it in its time period, start it on time,” according to NBC head Kevin Reilly.

Whoa. Radical concept.

– There are rumblings on TelevisionWithoutPity.com that Aaron Sorkin may return for the last batch of “West Wing” episodes this season.
