White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen may want to reconsider his goal to have the White Sox finish with the best regular-season record in baseball.
Since divisional play began in 1969, only eight teams have won the World Series after compiling the season’s best record. Only one, the 1998 New York Yankees, has done it since the addition of a third playoff round in 1995. The 1983 White Sox finished with baseball’s best regular-season record (99-63) but could manage only one win in the ALCS against the Baltimore Orioles.
