EVENT OF THE WEEK
CPA show covers ethics, technology
The Illinois CPA Society’s 25th Annual Business & Technology Solutions Show takes place Tuesday and Wednesday at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N. River Rd. in Rosemont.
Educational sessions will cover topics ranging from companies’ internal control procedures to practical “ethics” policies, to how emerging technologies will change the ways of doing business. Six educational tracks include accounting and auditing, tax, technology, corporate finance, practice management and work-free issues.
More than 200 exhibitors–including Microsoft, Best Buy and Intuit–will showcase the latest business technologies and products.
Keynote speakers include Cynthia Bates, general manager of small business at Microsoft, who will discuss how small businesses can prosper with technology; Dana Richardson, president of Richardson Media & Technologies, who will review the future of technology; Robert Bunting, chairman of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants board of directors, who will offer an overview of the state of the accounting profession; Dennis Faurote, president of the Faurote Group, who will discuss how to put ethics into action; and Michael Moskow, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, who will deliver an economic update.
Attendees can earn up to 18 continuing professional education credits for a registration fee of $240. Admission to the exhibition hall is free, but registration is required.
