– Ford will stop making the Lincoln LS midsize sedan next year. The LS, which debuted in 1999, is built in Wixom, Mich. Production will end after the 2006 model year, spokeswoman Lydia Cisaruk says. LS sales in the United States fell 18 percent, to 14,197, in this year’s first seven months, as sales of all Lincoln vehicles declined 7.1 percent.
– Bases prices for the 2006 Jeep Commander are $27,290 with two-wheel-drive and $29,290 with four-wheel-drive. Standard equipment includes a 3.7-liter V-6 with 5-speed automatic transmission, seats for seven, side-curtain air bags with rollover sensors and electronic stability control. Limited models have a standard 4.7-liter V-8 and base prices of $35,585 with 2WD and $38,205 with 4WD. A 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 is optional on Limited models. The base prices do not include the $695 destination charge.
