Hollywood has found its perfect Lana Turner–and it’s not Sharon Stone.
Instead, the role of the Hollywood legend is going to Catherine Zeta-Jones, despite Stone’s claims that it was Turner’s dying wish for Stone to play her in the biopic.
“I met Lana in her final years and liked her a great deal,” Stone told Britain’s Daily Express. “She was every inch the great movie star, and we got along really well. She said if there was a film to be made on her life, then I was her choice.”
The paper reports that Hollywood insiders think Zeta-Jones is a good choice, with some speculating that age might also have had something to do with the casting call: Zeta-Jones is 35; Stone is 47.
The film, called “Stompanato,” will co-star Keanu Reeves as one of Turner’s husbands, gangster Johnny Stompanato.
