I heartily agree with Paul Sullivan that the White Sox should do something to pay tribute to Frank Thomas (Tribune, Aug. 29).
While he won’t be able to contribute to the Sox during the postseason, his short stint this year is a big part of why the team has a big lead in the Central Division. Moreover, over the years I think true Sox fans have seen through the negative coverage of the Big Hurt. Maybe he has a prickly personality and isn’t the most media friendly guy, but he’s a great player who has played hurt (which fans didn’t learn about until later) and provided many great moments and seasons.
