– Colombian-born artists Shakira and Juanes lead the list of nominees for MTV Latin American Video Music Awards. The awards will be handed out Oct. 20 in Playa del Carmen, Mexico–the first time, VH1.com reports, that the event will take place in a Latin American country.
– As of Labor Day, the Nathan Lane-Matthew Broderick revival of “The Odd Couple” had sold more than $20 million worth of advance-sale tickets. The show debuts Oct. 27 at New York’s Brooks Atkinson Theater.
– Antony and the Johnsons won the annual Mercury music prize for best album in Britain. Judges said Tuesday that the band’s “I Am a Bird Now” album was the best of the 12 nominated, beating out albums by bands including Coldplay and Kaiser Chiefs.
