With all the terrible movies in Hollywood getting the sequel treatment, why not a good one like “The 40-Year-Old Virgin”?
Sadly, it’s not to be. But director Judd Apatow has plans. Big plans. Apatow tells The Associated Press he wants to do to “Virgin” co-star Seth Rogen what he did for “Virgin’s” leading man, comedian Steve Carrell: He wants to put his name in lights.
The burly, bearded Rogen, who plays stockroom clerk Cal, will star in Apatow’s next movie, another “offbeat romantic comedy.” Said Apatow: “I’ve worked with him since he was 16 on (the sitcom) ‘Freaks and Geeks’ and always thought he could be a big comedy star.”
Not a bad endorsement from the producer of “Anchorman.” Can sidekick Rogen follow in the footsteps of these other comic stars? He can only hope.
