If you’re in the mood to show off your low riders–cars, not jeans–Aurora’s Festival of Lights in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month may be the perfect way to say adios to summer.
The event, also known as Fiesta de Luces, starts at noon Saturday at West Downer Place and Stolp Avenue downtown.
The alcohol-free festival, which coincides with the anniversary of independence for Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, will feature a low-rider car show, children’s fun area, art exhibition and college fair.
There also will be musical and dance performances by Mambo Express, Ballet Folklorico Quetzalcoatl, Sones de Mexico and Jay “La Voz” Perez. A fireworks display will end the celebration at 8 p.m.
Anyone interested in participating in the car show can call the Mayor’s Office of Special Events at 630-844-3640.
