The Sept. 14 letter from Ron Hoffman Sr. recalled the low pump price of gasoline in the 1930s. I can appreciate his nostalgia for low prices. When I quit smoking in the late 1950s, my daily pack of Camel cigarettes cost 35 cents. Now, at $7 a pack, there is another excellent reason for quitting smoking.
