1. Hot read

Drew Bledsoe, Dallas: Fantasy owners ordered the Cowboy on draft day like a closing-time drink at a bar. It was last call for quarterbacks. The former Buffalo Bill has performed like anything but a stiff drink. Bledsoe (850 passing yards, six passing touchdowns, one rushing TD) is behind only Philadelphia’s Donovan McNabb as the top fantasy player at the position this season. With plenty of weapons around him–Terry Glenn and Keyshawn Johnson at wide receiver, Jason Witten at tight end and Julius Jones at running back–expect Bledsoe to be a consistent fantasy performer.

2. Broken play(er)

Eric Moulds, Buffalo: The wide receiver complained this week that the Bills aren’t throwing enough. This just in, Eric: J.P. Losman is your quarterback. Get used to it. With Buffalo having the luxury of leaning on running back Willis McGahee while Losman goes through his growing pains, Moulds–who has just eight receptions for 66 yards and no TDs–will struggle. Moulds’ fantasy owners should consider dropping him.

3. Off the bench

Kevin Curtis, St. Louis: The wide receiver should see many balls thrown his way with the Rams’ usual No. 2 receiver, Isaac Bruce, likely to either miss Sunday’s game or be limited due to a turf-toe injury. St. Louis faces the New York Giants, who have allowed the third-most passing yards per game (284.7) in the NFL. If Curtis is elevated to the No. 2 slot in the Rams’ high-powered offense, the third-year receiver is worthy of a start.

4. Safe bet

Kevin Jones, Detroit: The struggling running back meets Tampa Bay’s No. 1-ranked rushing defense. That combination should have Jones’ fantasy owners as nervous as a bomb diffuser. The Lions running back, who has just 109 yards in two games this season, will be held to less than 75 yards rushing.

5. Extra point

Ahman Green (above), Green Bay: The Packers veteran no longer is a No. 1 fantasy option at running back. Green hasn’t collected 100 yards rushing in his last nine games–averaging 52.1 yards per game–and has one TD in that stretch.
