Thanks to so many people, we are still living in our house in Mt. Prospect. Unfortunately, our next-door neighbors’ house was totally destroyed. We have learned firsthand that seconds and minutes do matter in an emergency situation.
Our deep appreciation and our heartfelt gratitude to all of the members of the Mt. Prospect Fire Department and Police Department and to all of the concerned agencies that responded in a united effort to the 911 call to a house fire on Aug. 17. We are especially grateful to the firefighters who were the first to arrive at the scene from the fire station located at Golf and Busse Roads in Mt. Prospect.
Your immediate response, professional procedures and tireless efforts to save the neighboring houses and our house while fighting to control the raging fire at our neighbors’ is the only reason that our house and possessions were saved from major damage and possible total destruction.
We send our sincere thanks to all of the agencies and their members from the surrounding suburban communities who responded to the scene and assisted in this emergency situation. We extend our gratitude to our neighbors and others who saw the smoke and fire and then called the authorities. Your comforting words and acts of kindness during a helpless and stressful situation helped sustain me.
Our very best to the Elk Grove Village firefighter who was injured while fighting this fire. It is our understanding that his injuries were minor and that he has recovered; that is the very best news.
Thank you for a job well done and for being there.
