Abraham Sandler, 84, of Glenwood, IL, Boca Raton, FL and Shavel (Siaulai) Lithuania, passed away at home in Florida on October 2, 2005. Holocaust survivor and founder of Sandler’s Shoes. Cherished son of the late Yisrael and the late Batya, nee Edelstein, Swiatsky; beloved brother of the late Joseph Swiatsky; devoted husband of 49 years to wife Frances; outstanding father of Beverly, Joel and Ellie; loving grandfather of Natasha. He was loved by all who knew him, lived a full life, and will be sorely missed. A self-made gentleman, expert in history, geography, political science, business, fluent in eight languages, a lover of music, possessed an exceptional sense of humor, a gifted athlete in many sports as displayed on the Maccabi soccer team in Lithuania, 1938. He was a proud supporter of everything Jewish, Israeli and American. He saved many lives during World War II. He faced his challenges with dignity, wit and wisdom. Funeral services to take place at Waldheim Cemetery, 1400 S.
