Illinois is going into Saturday’s Big Ten game with four victories in its last five meetings with Indiana.

“It doesn’t mean anything,” said junior center Matt Maddox, who will be starting his 29th straight game for the Illini.

“They have an entirely new coaching staff.”

Sophomore linebacker J Leman said he sees the Hoosiers the same way.

“If we look at the tape from last year, it’s a totally different team scheme-wise,” Leman said.

“From what I’ve seen [on video] they’re a pretty solid team. They have an experienced offensive line, a big strong running back (Chris Taylor) and a quarterback (Blake Powers) who makes plays.”

Coach Ron Zook said “in normal situations” new Indiana coach Terry Hoeppner “uses two tight ends, two wide receivers and one back.

“When they’re in multiple yard and downs situations, you’ll see either four wide and one back or one tight end, three wide and one back.”
