Ciara may not sweep this year’s Vibe Awards, but she’ll take her best stab at it.

Ba-dum-bum.

This year’s hip-hop and R&B honors, set for Nov. 12 in L. A., will try to make headlines for different reasons than last year’s show, where a brawl broke out after a man from the audience punched Dr. Dre.

Ciara stands to be the big winner–she’s up for five awards, including artist of the year. Kanye West, Mariah Carey, John Legend and 50 Cent, her challengers in that category, each have four nominations. The show will air Nov. 15 on UPN.

Footnote: Jimmy James Johnson, the man who punched Dre, was sentenced to a year in jail. Young Buck, the G-Unit rapper who allegedly stabbed Johnson during the fight, pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.
