Peter J. Tomaszkiewicz, Feb. 21, 1937 – Oct. 10, 2005, of Koontz Lake, IN, died Monday at Porter Hospital Valparaiso Campus after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Judith; brothers, Richard (Lucia) and Mitchell (Patricia); sister, Mary (Steve) Dilberto; aunts, Marie (Ed) Kynch and Eleanor (Ted) Majecki; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Amelia, nee Kezon, Tomaszkiewicz and a sister, Jean Ford. He was a U.S.M.C. Veteran, worked for the Chicago Park District, and was a diver on the Chicago Fire Department Air-Sea Rescue Unit. His proudest moment was the rescue of James Tontlewicz from Lake Michigan in Jan. 1984. Visitation Thursday 2 to 9 p.m. at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, Koontz Lake, IN. Funeral Mass Friday 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hamlet, IN. Interment Grovertown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Koontz Lake Fire Dept. at 7784 N.
