The Chicago Tribune, owners of the Chicago Cubs, should be commended for its balanced and excellent coverage of the Cubs and the White Sox. Some of us are diehard Cubs fans. Some of us are passionate White Sox fans. Many of us are fans of both of Chicago’s Major League Baseball teams.
You don’t have to be a fan of only one team or the other, although choosing sides is understandable when they play each other. This is not only expected but is part of the excitement of Chicago. Our hope is that someday we will have an all-Chicago subway World Series.
We should all be proud and supportive of this year’s underrated White Sox, who swept the playoff series against a good defending champion Boston Red Sox team. Perhaps the White Sox will become “America’s team” at least for this October.
